October 31 – Reformation Day / All Hallow’s Eve

On October 31, much of the culture will be focused on candy and things that go bump in the night.

Protestants, however, have something far more significant to celebrate on October 31.

hammerIt’s Reformation day – the day a hammer struck a castle’s church door in Germany.

Martin Luther, a law student turned monk, protested the Pope’s attempt to sell salvation. His major “discovery” was that Salvation is by grace alone and through faith alone, and good works result from our faith. In addition, Luther translated the Bible into German, the language of the people. He put the Word of God into the hands of the people for them to study themselves.

So, as you see the celebration of this All Hallows Eve going on around you, do a celebration yourself by opening God’s word – in your native language – and remind yourself that God is in control and has reached out to have a relationship with you because he loves You!
~ Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 8: 28-39
