Amazing Grace Blog

Topic: Faith

by Randy Epp

The other thoughts I had while we are on the topic of faith, is that verse that says ‘without faith it is impossible to please God’, and how that means we do not know what God will do, but we press on.

Believe - Hebrews

I think God wants us to act like we believe He exists, even when it feels/seems like He does not (i.e. despite the circumstances).

The Hebrews chapter of faith heroes (11) is a list of people who seemed to be highly successful. But continues to list those who seemed to be a huge failure (i.e. martyred).

Lastly, we recognize that God seems to favour acting through the underdog. Israel was not a powerful nation, prophets were often shunned, Jesus came as a poor itinerant radical. They all seem to lack power and glory.

Somehow, God makes faith a decision we make (based on reason and evidence), but a decision that requires humility and weakness. As soon as we act out of strength and pride we have abandoned faith.

Who, Me, Jesus? Fall Sermon Series

Who, Me, Jesus?

The Fall Sermon Series at Amazing Grace Community Church will be on the book of Ephesians.

Pastor Rohan will be preaching this series entitled “Who, Me, Jesus?”

Don’t get confused by the title – it’s going to be a great series!

Pastor Rohan will be looking at who the Ephesians were, historically, and why this letter is addressed to them.  We’ll also be digging deeper into how the Ephesians were called by God, and the identity that created for them. What does that identity mean for us (me and you) today?  (Hint: It’s got something to do with Grace!)

Join us at Amazing Grace for “Who, Me, Jesus?” on Sundays this Fall, September 29 all the way up through November (when we start getting ready for Advent and Christmas).
